Pitch Perfect

The Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra performed classic movie scores at an FC Dallas soccer game next to pyrotechnics and a dramatic drone show overhead!  I was hired to provide a mixer, mics, and stands to capture the magic and send it out to the audience on the stadiums massive speakers.  I used different mic techniques than what is typically done in a traditional orchestral concert hall.  Because of the position of the orchestra and the way some of the speakers were pointed at their position necessitated the use of a larger number of microphones with tighter pickup patterns that were positioned much closer than what they would be in a concert hall.  The wind  during the show and the thunderstorm that showed up while loading out did not make this job easier, but we got it done!
